Chiropractor photoshoot

This was one of my first branding shoots, and I got to do it for a friend! Alex is the owner of Relative Motion Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri. We met in 2015 while working retail. We attended the same college and have been friends ever since, so this shoot was extra special for me.

Alex was using socials to promote her business. She was also in the middle of building her website. For this shoot, we focused on getting website photos. However, they’re usable for her socials as well. We brought in models for her to work on and showcase each service she offers.

We started with a planning call to talk about preliminary ideas. Then, I created a mood board to make sure we were on the same page about what the shoot might look like. From there, I presented her with a shot list based on the services she wanted to show on her website. Once everything was approved, we scheduled the shoot!

This was my biggest shoot to date, so I was full of nervous excitement! It helped that we’ve known each other for so long. Once the shoot was in motion, it went smoothly and was a lot of fun. I took photos while she worked on the models using her chiropractic techniques. I also got some shots of her workspace and headshots of her in her room.

Overall, the shoot went great! I got all the shots we planned for and then some. I got to use both of my cameras to capture different shots. I had even rented a lens and ended up using it for almost the entire shoot. One thing I wanted to improve on after this shoot was time management. We never worked out an exact time frame for the shoot, and it ended up taking around two hours. It was fine for everyone, but it would’ve been nice to set that expectation ahead of time. Another takeaway was to work on not overshooting. I took A LOT of photos, which always makes it harder to go through them after (I usually like too many of them)!

For editing, in general, I like my photos to be bright and true to life. I tend to up the brightness a bit, but I try to leave colors as close to real life as possible, which is what I did for this shoot. I did have to adjust the white balance a bit due to the color of the room, but it was easy to edit overall.

I love how these photos turned out. As I mentioned, this was one of my first branding shoots and the biggest shoot I had done. It was challenging, especially dealing with the indoor lighting, but we made it work. I’m proud of how these turned out, and I hope you love them too!
